Overview

Power Explain is a tool for developers and DBA's to collect and analyze SQL statements that are executed in the Oracle database.  The tool is very easy to use, yet very powerful, and may be used in a number of creative ways to identify and solve problems. Although most Oracle shops will begin to apply the tool to identify existing deficiencies in SQL statements, the tool is also very effective for new development to proactively build SQL statements that will perform optimally once implemented.  Oracle customers in the process of migrating to cost-based optimization may  find the tool to be highly valuable in comparing SQL statements across instances in order  to identify problem areas that will require the use of hints. This product was developed based on three premises:

  1. Simplicity - Make it easy enough for novices but powerful enough for experienced developers. Provide basic functionality in a clear, concise format.
  2. Focus - Create a tool that meets a specific need, not every need.  Meet that need in a comprehensive manner.
  3. Value - Offer the tool at a fair price in relation to other Windows based products so that every Oracle developer, not just the DBA's, have the tool on their desktop.
